Artist Statement:
“Sanctuary in Progress (2025)” is a reflection of my personal journey into therapeutic, soul-led art. This painting was created not with perfection in mind, but with peace at heart; an honest expression of joy, presence, and emotional release through the language of paint.
The imagery, two colonial-style stained glass windows set in a timeworn stone wall, gently overtaken by bougainvillea, evokes a quiet reverence. It is a sanctuary reclaimed by both nature and memory, a space that invites stillness and reflection.
Intentionally left unfinished, this piece mirrors the ever-evolving nature of the human experience. In that in-between space ; raw, imperfect, and unhurried, I find my happy place. Here, painting becomes more than art: it becomes meditation, a soft return to self, where colours speak when words cannot.
Sanctuary in Progress (2025) is not just a painting. It is a moment, a process, a gentle reminder that beauty is found not only in what is completed, but in what is becoming.
